Tour de Force

Louis Jourdan, at 29 years of age brought a scintillating talent to the forefront in this crisply directed comedy by Lewis Milestone. His performance is delicious perfection, acting Dana Andrews right off the screen. This early gem is little known and under-appreciated for its comedic brilliance and the repeated delight of viewing this actor's exhilarating ability to inhabit Octavio Quaglini with audacious certainty. It popped up recently on late night TV. This actor deserves better recognition for his intelligent interpretation of those, unfortunately few roles he was offered which matched his fine acting sensibilities. Recommend this highly.

I've just caught this rare movie on early morning TV here in Britain. I was fairly entertained in it.

Octavio Quaglini is a very interesting character. I was wondering all the time if he really has psychic ability and I decided that in the end that he really does, despite the fact that he thinks that he is faking it.

A rather unusual role for Louis Jourdan. He played it with relish.
