Olive Films blu-ray release

Depending on who tells the story, Welles’s love affair with the works of William Shakespeare began when he was a mere child, first reading A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the tender age of five (or younger!). Far more accurately, his continued encounter with the Bard included teenage involvement with the three-volume text “Everybody’s Shakespeare,” the famously groundbreaking production of a “voodoo” Macbeth in 1936—re-set in Haiti and featuring an all-black cast—and further stage, radio, and screen versions of the playwright’s many works. Released in two different versions, one in 1948, one in 1950, both included on this Olive Films disc, this particular rendering of Macbeth ranks among Welles’s best. http://www.cutprintfilm.com/blu/new-blu-ray-macbeth/
