Oil companies in South Louisiana

This movie really hit home for me because my grandfather grew up on the Bayou Petite Anse, where his family had been for generations, before he moved with his mother and father to Port Arthur, TX to work in the oil refineries there. It broke my heart to see the trust of the family in this film and the idyllic world of the bayou because so many Cajun families were lured to Southeast Texas during the depression and then World War II to work in oil refineries. It was a really sad film for me, even with the happy ending, because it gave me a taste of the culture I missed out on by being born in Texas. I am very glad to know that that place and time is documented on film even if nothing is how it was back then, it helps me feel close to my family.
