Spain answer to Hollywood and Britain's historical movies?

Juan de Ordunez's directed this 1948 classic film on the life of "Juana la Loca" ["Joann the Mad One"] queen of Spain in the XVI century, after the death of her mother Isabella the Catholic, and the abdication of her father Ferdinand. Well made, quite good acting from Spain's Aurora Bautista as the tragic crazy queen [and she steals the show!], alongside Spain's Sara Montiel, and Fernando Rey [and also appeared in Luis Bunuel's "Viridiana" of 1961, and here in the USA he is remembered as the drug boss Gene Hackman is after in the 1971's classic "The French Connection"]. Higly recommended classic in the tradition and style of Hollywood's "Mary Queen of Scots" with Katherine Hepburn and Fredrich March of 1936, and Alexander Korda's "The Private Life of Henry the VII" with legendary Sir Charles Laughton and Elsa Lanchester. It shows Spain was not so behind the rest of the world in producing such historical classics. And Bautista with Ordunez will repeat other classics like "Agustina de Aragon" and "Santa Teresa de Avila".
