The Lord's Prayer

As a Born again Christian, I absolutely loved how they used The Lord's Prayer
in the scene when they were greiving over her father. It was very moving, and
conveyed a message of hope in the middle of such abject pain. I sat there
and cried through that scene, telling God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit how much
I loved them, and being thankful for that message of peace during the time
of storm.

I totally understood her taking that shotgun and stopping him
from getting to her baby!

I am not in agreement with violence; but I will blow your head off if you try
to harm my children.

GREAT MOVIE!!! It touches every emotion we experience as human beings!

"OOO...I'M GON' TELL MAMA!"

Yes, a Standout scene for me....for Jane Wyman to act AND say the Lord's Prayer in Sign must have been difficult but SO rewarding to perform. I love this movie more every time I see it.

I guess you place a higher value on corn than I do.

And to that I say, Amen, brother, amen!

Just saw this tonight for the first time. The Lord's Prayer scene was so touching and moving, I was brought to tears. She struggled as she tried to sign, "give us this day," signing "give" a couple of times, just as someone would struggle using speech during a difficult time. Amazing scene.

Watching it now. Truly a lovely scene!

Great movie, I agree. I have a problem with introducing God into everything when God always plays hide and seek. Belinda was definitely one of the Children of a Lesser God.

It's a shame that God is waiting for the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, and Santa Claus to do his Holy Work while God sits on his brains laughing at mortal man.

I never understand why anyone prays to a God for thanks after a disaster when that same God did absolutely nothing to prevent it. Prayers never get answered. Insanity is defined as repeating the same behavior expecting a different outcome.

Reminds me of that old joke by Don Rickles about how Frank Sinatra saved his life once. Don walked out the back of a Vegas Hotel for a smoke after doing his comedy set, including a few Frank Sinatra/Mafia jokes. A car opens up, a few thugs get out and beat the hell out of Don. After a few minutes, Sinatra emerges from the same limo and says, "That's enough."

And Rickles concludes by saying, "See, Frank saved my life!"

Same exact thing with God. Yeah, God saved your life, all right.

Grow up. Get up off your knees and touch the sky. That's all there is. No Greek Gods. No Roman Gods. No Gods. Just you and me. It sucks to realize you are the Captain of your Soul. No one that cares about you either above you or below you. YOU can't be that lazy to believe in fairy tales.

Peace.

Yes, Peace, GhostPepperHot. Thank you for covering up your message.

I agree with the OP and everyone else with intelligently beautiful replies to this post. I was so touched by this scene that I thought it would be wonderful to learn the Lord's Prayer in sign language, even though I am not deaf and do not know anyone who is deaf (yet). The scene was incredibly moving. I did learn the sign language alphabet when I was a child and I will seek to learn the Lord's Prayer in sign language because of this movie.
