Great, underrated noir


It Always Rains on Sundays runs at a different pace than most thrillers of the era. Because of its ensemble nature and wider scope, viewers can leave it with, arguably, a superior understanding and appreciation of its setting. Not that other entries in the noir movement failed to appropriately communicate the context under which its stories are set (several do so very well, in fact) but Robert Hamer’s picture has a particular inclination towards presenting an entire district’s lament for a brighter future that it will probably never witness. http://www.cutprintfilm.com/features/editorials/noirvember-friday-always-rains-sunday/
