Although I had some initial misgivings at seeing Paul Henried as a tough gang leader, but things smoothed out nicely with every new plot twist. I loved the script little personal touches like the gas station guy who was studying dancing to become a professional ballroom dancer. Also, the scar angle didn't really do anywhere. You would think that his wife would, before anyone else, would detect it. Alas, it was only the cleaning woman who noticed.

There is no "off" position on the genius switch.

That was not his wife. It was his girlfriend. Evelyn was is girlfriend on the side.
Take a look at the scene where they first met - she is obviously more wrapped up in herself than him. Tells him he looks handsome but cannot get her eyes out of the mirror.

It's a very impressive and memorable film, for sure.
