Couldn't get into this one

I love Gary Cooper in almost anything, but I found his character of "Good Sam" to be totally annoying. Sure, he's altruistic, but he makes a lot of bad decisions. He lies to his wife FOR MONTHS about losing their house down payment. Then when he gets bailed out, does he learn from his mistake? No, he uses it to buy all the turkeys BEFORE he gets the money from the employees to pay for it, and then loses it again. He gets completely drunk, he moves a woman into his house (again without getting his wife's approval), it's like he can do anything he wants because he's HELPING PEOPLE.

Poor Ann Sheridan needs to get out while she can. Good Sam is not going to change and he's just going to expect her to go along with whatever he wants to do.
