Looking for more movies on this topic

I watched several other movies on the same topic like "The Search", "The Devil makes three", "The Big Lift", "I was a male War Bride", "The Prize of Gold", "Germania anno zero" and "Hallo Fraeulein" (with Peter Van Eyck) and would love to find out about other movies on this topic.

Have to admit that I was a bit shocked that this film received only 7.5 stars from imdb users. To me this is a 10 star movie, it doesn't get any better than that.
So I'm curious now: compared with which other movie on this same topic (that you would rate 10 stars) would you rate "A Foreign Affair" only 7.5 stars?

Or maybe I don't understand the whole rating system?

For instance when I watch 6 movies on the topic "circus", then the gold standard for me is "The Greatest Show on Earth" and gets 10 stars, "The Big Circus" is still pretty good compared with "The Greatest Show...", so I give it 8 stars.
Then there are rather odd movies like "Berserk" and "Circus of Horrors" which I only rate with 2 stars. But for instance "Carnival Story" with Anne Baxter is definitely 6 stars.
That's why only 7.5 stars for "A Foreign Affair" seems to me pretty unfair. After all: this is Billy Wilder at his best!!!

"Or maybe I don´t understand the whole rating system?"

Inasmuch as it´s got nothing whatsoever to do with ´your´ preferences, or metrics of your invention, I suppose so...

Walden, try Berlin Express, and The Third Man.

also try two Montgomery Clift films, "The Big Lift" (1950) and "Judgement at Nuremberg" (1961) -- both set and shot in postwar Germany -- the second even has Marlene Dietrich in it.
