I read that she really did think Jean Arthur was unattractive and she objected to her character losing the leading man (Lund) to Arthur's character. Marlene also detested the Nazis and did not like portraying a Nazi collaborator.
shareWell I guess we can understand that but personally I don't think Arthur is unattractive, and the not wanting to portray a Nazi collaborator/sympathizer is very understandable but hey, it's the movies, people have to play parts they don't agree with for the sake of art. She was good in it, too.
