Alan Mowbry's cut scene

I have the MOD DVD of this movie from Warner Archive.

In it, Alan Mowbry is 5th billed, but has only 1 or 2 lines as Mr. Spitzer. But later, Anabel and Julie have a scene where Anabel is recovering after having an a described but unshown argument, culminating with Anabel hitting Spitzer over the head with a wooden duck. The duck hitting Spitzer was also referenced in a scene between Anabel and Sanford.

Was the fight scene between Spitzer and Anabel cut in the initial release, or is this an element missing due to the elapsed years? It seems so strange for Mowbry to be so highly billed when he only appears for a couple of seconds.

I just watched this movie on TCM, the channel that shows films "uncut".
I didn't see the scene with Spitzer getting hit on the head, either. In fact, I
was waiting to see Alan Mowbry in the film, but must have blinked, because I didn't
see him at all.

If the scenes were filmed but not in the initial theatrical release, the scene would not be shown anywhere, even on TCM. Mowbray is near the beginning. He's the floor manager or something like that in the department where Anabel works. I was expecting to see more of him, but the 5 seconds is all we get.

I think there was some editing done by RKO before it was released. The scene with Spitzer seems to have been cut, and there is also a scene where Annabel goes to Franchot Tone's home and he chases her around before she runs off. That seems to have been cut, too.

My thought is that the scenes were eliminated because RKO wanted the focus to be on her and Cary Grant. So when she has important scenes with other actors, they get in the way of that. Because these scenes are left out, the film seems a bit uneven in spots, jumping ahead and then telling the audience what happened in between.
