Who would you prefer to play Don Hewes? I personally would have rather have seen Gene Kelly play Don Hewes because I am a bigger fan of Gene than I am of Fred but I think Fred did a great job in this film. I really wish that Gene hadn't broken his ankle, so he could have played this role..I think it would have been really interesting. J/G kind of needed a comeback film after "The Pirate" didn't do so well.
shareI don't think it would have been the same movie. Gene was extremely talented and I think better looking than Fred Astaire. However, Astaire was a superior a dancer, in my opinion. And this one-time (?) pairing of Fred and Judy makes this film extra special. I really enjoyed seeing Judy dance with him.

shareIt definitely would have been interesting with Gene. I love Fred though. He was so graceful. He wasn't classically handsome, like Gene, but I think that his eyes and his smile made him adorable. He seemed like such a gentleman. Both were great entertainers, but I'm glad that Fred got this one.
