RE: Edana Romney's Performance - Very good

Movie girl: In looking through the reviews, I noticed some people were not thrilled by Edana Romney's performance. Of course it is a matter of personal opinion, but I thought she did a great job portraying the socialite who is torn between Paul (who lives in the past) or the sensible barrister she eventually married.

In the film we find that, though Paul does not know her well yet, he is devastated that she does not love him. His personality is puzzling as well, for he forms a quick attachment to a young woman he has recently met. She in turn is drawn to him very quickly.

Edana's character is lovely and clever and yearns for romance, but feels hesitant after hearing the particulars of Paul's life following the war years.

I have watched many British films over the years and find that the lead characters seem emotionless when in fact, they are feeling the opposite. So the reserve of this leading lady is deceptive here.

Since seeing this film, I have observed her in Alibi with Margaret Lockwood and James Mason. There she gave a good performance as well as a nightclub entertainer.
