Bare-bones Blu-Ray

I enjoyed the new Blu-ray edition by Olive Films, but can't help wishing they had spent a little more money on sub-titles, extra features and the like. Liked Lee Garmes's cinematography very much.

I don't care about extra features. The most important factor is the quality of the film, and the Blu-Ray print is magnificent. The cinematography was superb, though you come to expect this in Max Ophuls' films. Extra features, meh.

I don't think Subtitles for the hearing impaired is either A) too much to ask or B) something that can be called a needless "Extra".

___Of course the actual film is paramount, but features are very important to me if only the trailer. Otherwise I could just copy it off TCM myself or something. It's a more complete experience, and it could help very weak films like this. For such an interesting cast, this is an interesting little film, but certainly not a great feature. Ryan is his usual self. I can see Mason in this part more than the sympathetic Doctor, but Ryan looks more like Howard Hughes. Bel Geddes is pretty good, no great beauty, but very young and fresh. I can see her as a department store model even though she was a bit short. She had a quality of intelligence and believability.
