Name misspelled in the opening credits...

I am watching this right now on TCM and noticed Max Ophuls' named was spelled Max "Opuls" on the actual print!

"I told you a million times not to talk to me when I'm doing my lashes"!

It's an alternate spelling. He sometimes spelled it that way.

It was spelled that way in all the films he made during his brief Hollywood sojourn. It's the phonetic spelling of the correct pronunciation of his name. The same way that Hildegard Kneff became Hildegard Neff in America.
