one of the best lines ever... (POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT)

...when Mitchum and Robert Preston square off (after Mitch realizes he's really a good guy)...

Mitchum: 'Tate, I've known dogs wouldn't claim you for a son...'

I can't resist copying from my 'Hellfire' post: Wrangler Jane (F Troop's Melody Patterson), Barbara Bel Geddes in 'Blood on the Moon', Dorothy Malone in 'The Nevadan', Barbara Britton in 'Gunfighters' ('47), Marie Windsor in 'Hellfire'--I do love those buckskin-clad women... :)

vaya con dios...

'We all dream of being a child again - even the worst of us. Perhaps the worst most of all...'

Yes that line triggered Preston's throwing a punch if memory serves. Preston made a nice slimy villain, compared to his many clean-cut roles elsewhere. All that noir lighting creates menace and atmosphere in faces and sets. Solid acting and dialogue. This is a keeper in the Robert Wise canon.
