Anyone notice the film looked different at times

I love this film. It has a great cast. I try to catch it each time TCM airs it. But I wonder about the way it looks in 2 scenes especially.

When Stroud is talking to the staff about a story and Janouth calls him on the phone.

In the scene where Stroud gives the staffs their assignments for hunting down Jefferson Randolf.

Both scenes looked like they were filmed live as in a 50s tv studio production. I found it interesting.

Yep, I noticed it too...everytime I watch this movie, to the point that it's a bit distracting. Most of the scenes in the Janoth Building have that flat, overly-lit lighting. I suppose they were trying to create a "realistic" type of lighting for a modern building that's being flooded with florescent light, but IMO they went way too far with it and most of the movie wound up looking like it was lit for a 50s TV show instead of a noir thriller.
