Movie vs. Play

Anyone know how close the movie is to the play, or novel? The differences, similarities? Would be interesting to find out.

The movie is pretty close to the play, though the play takes place within only 24 hours, and the character Herbert Deever is in the play only talked about, not present, as he is here in the movie. The scene in the restaurant is not in the play, neither is - of course - the scene with Chris visiting Herbert Deever in jail. The two most surprising twists only in the movie are 1) Ann leaving the Keller house with her brother, apparently forever, after the confrontation between George and Chris, and 2) Joe Keller, in the scene next to the finale, defending himself to his wife - - and starting to cry. A very moving moment.
