Does anyone know why the music from Adventures of Don Juan was used in the Goonies? I looked at the trivia for both movies and neither one mentions it. Just curious as to why it was used in The Goonies. I know there is a scene where Sloth is watching a pirate movie and I can't remember if it is Errol Flynn that slides down a sail using a knife, but that never happens in Don Juan.

The music was used in the same way John William's theme to Jaws keeps popping up in other movies; it is an instant tip of the hat to other films and instantly conveys to those in the know the emotion desired by the film makers.
