Split Second Porn??

When Lenore Aubert (more likely a stunt double) is thrown out the window her legs spread under a hiked up skirt just as she's thrown. Skillful use of the stop button on the dvd seems to reveal a crotch without underwear. Even if it's black panties (doesn't appear to be)it's pretty shocking, albeit hard to see without close observation.

I love discoveries like these.

And yeah, she was probably wearing black panties.

A big shadowy crotch is porn now?

The line is certainly an attention getter. And may even meet the definition if what I'm at least 50% sure that I saw is really the case. It's hardly visible on normal viewing but requires use of the slow or freeze control to see clearly.

I just happened to read this post while looking up something else when watching the movie, and had to take a look - strictly in the interests of film history, of course ;-)

It's certainly possible. European-born actresses were known to not bother with underwear on occasion, even back then. (Lenore Aubert was born in present-day Slovenia, despite the French-sounding stage name.) But for my two cents, it looks like either black panties or simply a shadow from the hem of her dress under the studio lights. Freeze-framing would make the shot look blurry (or perhaps in this case, "hairy" might be a better adjective.)

Still, this has the makings of a good urban legend/Hollywood myth. And since she died in 1993, we'll never find out the truth either way.

I don't think Lenore Aubert could provide the answer. It was probably a stunt double. I took another look and I don't think it was my fevered imagination.

Also note where Bud and Lou are looking at that point i.e. not at the monster.

Can someone tell me what the time this occurs

reply

towards the end of the film, when Costello is being readied for a brain transplant.

reply

There were probably at least a few takes of that scene. Maybe they knew what to expect---and didn't want to miss it!

reply

yes that is a lady bush, its confirmed in an interview by her from the 70s

reply

You have got to be kidding. That scene with Lenore beng tossed out the window was a stunt where the stunt lady was on a wired harness so she could be superhumanly "lifted" by the Frankenstein monster. The harness goes on the waist and given the time, was probably made of leather. That is what you caught a glimpe of between her legs. She is also crashing through the candy glass window so she would be padded on her back and tush. Doing a stunt like that is not the time to go commando.

Incidentally, the first attempt at the stunt the stunt lady swung back and caused Glenn Strange to trip and get injured. This is why Lon Chaney got into the Frankenstein makeup to do the stunt the second time while Strange recuperated. This time through, the stunt lady get fragments of candy glass in her eye that had to get removed. So it was not an easy little stunt.

The biggest minority in America is the individual.

What you say seems to make sense. But I looked at he scene again; including on freeze frame; and I still think it's more than my fevered imagination. A true harness would look larger and "more involved" than what is depicted---be it a Mound Of Venus or black panties. And mattresses a couple of feet below the opposite side of the "window" could have cushioned any fall.
