Seasons, Episodes Available on DVD?

Looking for specific episodes. Does anyone one know if they're available on DVD? Tape? ANYTHING?? I have come across "Best of" sets but that's it. I am hoping to find they have been released in full. Perhaps by the season - like most other shows. I'm interested in episodes from season 18. If anyone knows ...... THANKS

The only complete episodes that I am aware of being officially released are the three Elvis appearances and four Beatles appearances, which are from seasons 9, 10, 17, and 19.

There are several "Best of The Ed Sullivan Show" DVD sets available, in various configurations, of the popular music and rock & roll segments (not complete episodes, but Motown compilation, Rock & Roll Classics, Best of The Supremes/Temptations, etc.), as well a "Broadway's Best," "Ballet Legends," "Great Moments in Opera," and two of "The Very Best of The Ed Sullivan Shows" (these two aired as CBS-TV specials, one hosted by Carol Burnett, the other by Burt Reynolds), a "Best of Comedy" hosted by Mary Tyler Moore (also a CBS special), a kids' set with "Muppets Magic" and "Topo Gigio & Friends," as well a few Christmas/holiday sets. There are several other compilations available as well,

I think you may only find VHS format of these products on eBay and other online auction and selling websites at this point.

The other person who posted here about those three Elvis Presley programs and four of The Beatles appearances being complete episodes is correct. But now, in addition to those, there is also a set of The Rolling Stones' six appearances, available in complete episodes' format. So, including the three Elvis, four Beatles, and six Stones, there are at least 13 complete episodes available of "The Ed Sullivan Show."

You would do best to check EdSullivan.com, the home of Andrew Solt Productions, which holds the leasing rights of the series from the Sullivan estate. You may view, as well purchase, all the available retail products of "The Ed Sullivan Show" at that website.

Beyond that, if you are familiar with torrents downloading, a form of file-sharing among video collectors, there were several of these Ed Sullivan sets available from that method, last time I checked.

Good luck.

There are sets of many complete episodes available now on the private collectors circuit. Try searching, I won't mention specifics here, maybe by PM. They are not organized with info on episodes or dates. I'd like to know about that too.

Hey what about the copyright. I generally had the impression those 1950s TV shows were not copyrighted and are public domain. The networks would have had to pay and register a record of each and every episode with the govt. And what's this about the Sullivan estate. As if he bought the rights from CBS?
