How many times were the Beatles on Ed Sullivan?

I have two old video tapes that include four appearances. There were three in 1964, then one in September 1965. Was there really a year and a half before they returned?

You mean like standing on top of him? Probably never. I would only imagine something like that would have hurt him severely... 

Four sounds right. In the 1965 appearance, you can sense how tired they are of straight performance and were undoubtedly looking forward to the new direction they took in confining themselves to studio work.
