God Awful Wig

That God awful wig was a distraction. I know this is a stupid remark but I had t I get that off my chest.

Do you think it's a wig? I was giving the hairdresser props for giving her the same "do" that Margaret Sullivan sported when she did the role on Broadway. (I'm not an expert...have just been reading through the trivia and comments on this site.) I'll go on to say that Sullivan's hair in "The Shop Around the Corner" has always bugged me, but some styles just have more staying power than others.

I'm guessing it's a wig because of how stiff it was, even when she was in bed in the morning, they couldn't make the thing look slept in.

It may have worked for Ms Sullivan, but it did nothing for Ms Parker.

That was one detail from the play they could have left out.

But it was a cute story and I guess the point was that she was a little bit of a drippy character. I liked how she always evened up the drinks by sipping the top, and how she could never ignore a ringing phone. But that wig made her a little too goofy, not one the theater wolves would have pursued or Bill would have been attracted to. That was a real stretch for me, in that ugly wig.

Maybe they had originally wanted Ms Sullivan for the role, or a Sullivan type.
