I like it when they show a remake and then the original

Both 'The Unfinished Dance' (1947) and 'Ballerina' (1937) original title 'La mort du cygne' were on TCM last night.I enjoyed both and love it when TCM does this with other films.

I agree. I really enjoy watching movies with different versions together such as: Little Women (1933) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0024264/, Little Women (1949) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0041594/, Little Women (1970 Mini-Series) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0168962/ and Little Women (1994) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110367/.

Last week I saw several documentaries on Winston Churchill: Chasing Churchill, In Search of My Grandfather (TV Series 2008)http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1267287/, The Churchills (1996 Mini-Series) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0169423/, along with Young Winston (1972) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069528/, The Gathering Storm (2002 TV Movie) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0314097/ and Into the Storm (2009) (TV) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0992993/.

I take alot of care when planning my movie watching experiences. The Turner Classic Movie website, my local public library website and the "List" feature here are very helpful.

It's great when the remakes are good, but when they show "The Women" followed by"The Opposite Sex", it just reinforces how awful the remake is!

I agree that THE OPPOSITE SEX is by far a lesser movie than THE WOMEN, but (from my memory of it from quite a few years ago), I still found quite a bit of fun to it--kind of a guilty pleasure, to be enjoyed in the shadow of the earlier movie, which is a kind of masterpiece. I'd agree more heartily if you posited a side-by-side of the original THE WOMEN with that misbegotten remake they did just a few years ago, with Meg Ryan and whomever else. Horrid, and a ridiculous idea even to do it. I did, however, enjoy the televised showing of the play, live from Lincoln Center, quite a few seasons ago, with a cast including Cynthia Nixon and Martha Coolidge (she is so freaking brilliant!).

Just make a movie that makes me care, one way or another. I'm open.
