evils of mass produced videos

I've always loved this movie, even when I was old enough to cringe at "The only good Injun is a dead Injun" line. I had copied it off the Late Show, but was anxious to get a commercial copy of the videotape. Would you believe that the tape I bought off eBay has Paulette Goddard in a BLUE gown! The emerald green gown was indelibly etched in my memory and I hate that restorers were so careless. I know that this is no big deal to most people, but figured that anyone interested in looking at a chatboard for this movie would be a big enough fan to commiserate with me!

I also have loved this movie since I was a child, and I purchased it too. Unfortunately, the changes you mention often happen when they restore a movie or convert it from Black and White to color. I just try to overlook cosmetic changes and enjoy the core of the movie.

This movie was filmed IN COLOR! There is no excuse, other than ignorance on the part of the person who was assigned to enhance this already technicolor movie. I believe that the line, "Venus emerging from an emerald sea" was the one referred to. I too, really loved this film. It is CB Demille at his best.
