I wonder if it is just coincidental that a man named "Alberto Cavalcanti" chose to direct a movie whose theme parallels that of "The Count of Monte Cristo." After all, "Andrea Cavalcanti" is the alias that the Count chooses to give his pawn Benedetto, who is in reality the illegitimate son of the prosecutor de Villefort and Baroness Danglars.
