One wonderful movie!

Why is this movie so overlooked? It deserves a lot more attention as a
sweet, old-fashioned romantic comedy/drama. Hopefully, now that it's finally
out on DVD, a lot more people will be introduced to it.

I know! On the rare occasions TCM features a Kurosawa film, they bring out the obvious samurai epics. This is a wonderful little gem that they really need to expose people to, maybe even add to their regular rotation.

Agreed a wonderful movie with some serious flaws, but a must see for any follower of the Master. Many intimations of his future greatness.

I totally agree. I was so moved by this story. It was so realistic, yet dreamy at the same time. You've entered a lovers' world, and it has its own chemistry.

Yes, great sweet film.

And all the more so because it was set in a capital city that had, I believe, just two years before been 90% flattened and burned by US bombs. Extraordinary!

It's a really good movie. I was in the mood for a simple feel-good sort of movie tonight and this was just right.
