Dean Stockwell

This movie is airing on TCM Friday, December 23rd. For those who have seen it could you please tell this Stockwell fan if Dean is in it much? It's on after 2 am, but I want to stay up and watch IF Dean has more than just a cameo. Thanks!

reply

Sorry to disappoint you, but Dean Stockwell is credited as Nick and Nora's son in this film. who's 7 or 8 years-old and has very few speaking parts, if that matters to you. It was a surprise to me when I noticed his name in the credits on the IMDB page for this movie, as I never knew he was in films as a child.

Although this last hurrah is probably the least entertaining of the wonderful Thin Man series, William Powell and Myrna Loy are still a delight onscreen as Nick and Nora Charles. This film also features some early roles for other soon-to-be notable actors, such as Keenan Wynn and Gloria Grahame, along with cameos for film noir staple Marie Windsor, and character players Jayne Meadows, Leon Ames and Don Taylor.

In all, for pure entertainment, I would recommend that you view the entire half-dozen Thin Man films when possible, along with the many other movies pairing William Powell and Myrna Loy. Starting in the early-thirties with the great "Manhattan Melodrama" and the original "The Thin Man" they were a prelude to some of the great film couples, paving the road for the likes of Tracy-Hepburn and countless others. If you enjoy this feature, I would suggest buying the box-set, as these timeless films can be enjoyed over multiple viewings.

Hi Richie - Dean began acting (on Broadway) at the age of 5. You've never heard of the movie "The Boy with Green Hair?" It's one of his best-known movies.
