Katharine Hepburn Breastfeeds!!

Whoa - I did not see that coming!! I can not believe Clarence Brown and MGM got that scene by the censors even though of course we don't see anything, still the whole scene is set up so we know what's going on (Clara rushes through her performance when she realizes it's time to feed her bawling infant and ultimately she does, quieting him down). I don't think I've seen anything like this in a pre 1960's motion picture, they wouldn't even let the word "pregnant" be used on screen or show a woman who was obviously expecting a child, usually the woman says "I'm going to have a baby" then continues on as reed thin as ever for months, and ta dah, the next scene she is lying in bed with a practically cellophane wrapped infant as if it was something picked up at the grocers on the way home.

Uh huh! I SAW WHAT U DID THAR.
It's a cute scene and I wonder if it really happened that way. It was normal to have wet nurses so the mom could take a break, and I'm sure Clara did. Maybe the wet nurse took the night off or Clara said "it's okay, I'll do it".

Well, the city's being built and I'm winning this game. So don't interrupt us with trifles.
