The BBC in England have just broadcast an absolutely stunning print of this film on their Hi def channel, it was jaw dropingly good, doe's anyone know if this has been given a restoration with view to being released on blu ray in the future? It looked as good as any 40's film I have ever seen!
shareYes, I recorded and watched the same broadcast on BBC2-HD. And the print was in great shape. I thought it would probably be a scratchy old print like the BBC often use, but was presently surprised.
It had a shiny new MGM logo at the end, so maybe MGM have restored it for HD broadcasts or hopefully a new DVD/Blu-ray release (But I won't hold my breath) or could just be a good archive print. There's a remake coming out in 2013 with Ben Stiller, so maybe MGM will release the original in Hi-Def sometime soon.
