How many people saw a *blue* mask?

According to the dialogue, the mask that keeps floating around outside is green. On my DVD copy it's blue.

This is what happens to your movies when (1) you film them in cheap color that quickly degrades over time and (2) you allow them to fall into public domain, which means they'll be distributed in bad copies for $1.00 at your local drugstore.

Oh, well. I don't think the color green would have made the movie any better.

Well it struck me as being a blue green.

Hi, novastar. Didn't expect to find you on this board.

The mask on my copy was very blue. Since this movie is in the public domain there must be a lot of different versions available.

Are you a Bela Lugosi fan?

I slept with him at the Holy Cross Cemetary in Culver City Ca. where he is buried. Nice chap.

I always thought Bela a bit cold, but maybe he's different under the shroud.

Yeah and he can still cut a mean fart.

Bad enough to wake the dead, huh?

There was a beautiful color print of it on TCM recently.

"Don't worry. I'm not on the side of the saints yet."

I taped this off the TV years ago and that version appeared to have gone through a colorization process like they use on old black and white films. I guess it was to improve the aged, poor quality colour film stock. Anyway, it looked a whole lot better but maybe that's why the mask is a differnt colour.

reply

When was this? Was there still meat on the bone?

reply

On my Netflix DVD, the mask of the guy peeking in the window was blue. In fact I kept thinking "ah, I bet this is where the Blue Man Group got the idea for their appearance."

Maybe it's one of those colors that can be interpreted differently depending on version of movie you are watching or your point of view.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.

reply

If the color hadn't changed, they might have been the Green Man Group...

I wanted it on google video and the mask was definitely blue.

reply

I saw it on television and it was greenish blue

Mine was a particular shade of blue -- blue as a persimmon in heat, both degraded and at the same moment sacerdotal. Trooth will out.

Blue!🐭

Green mask with a blue light shining down from overhead.

From the print I saw on TCM, the mask is blue.

Also it seemed that Dr. Van Ee's exam room/office walls went from blue early in the film to green later on.
