This was a very entertaining film.
I can't believe so few have rated it.
and nobody is discussing it.

it is definitely worth checking out.

Over five years later, and still nobody has really discussed it. At least it has over 200 votes now.

Great cast and well-made, this film should be better known.

I agree, a great film. I first saw this back in the Summer of 1988 on AMC, back when it was " American Movie Classics ". Bob Dorian introduced it during an AMC Film Noir week. Being 1988, I recorded it on VHS. Still own that copy. O'Brien, Slezak, Jeffreys, Cowan and a pre " Pa Kettle " Percy Kilbride as " Pop " all worked great together. AMC ran this RKO classic along with " Follow Me Quietly "," The Locket ", " Murder My Sweet "and " Out Of The Past ". A very memorable week of Film Noir.

Yes, very entertaining and in some ways unusual film. Starting with a lizard, no dialog for the first 5 minutes with alot of interesting visual shots, the emphasis of relationships with animals (although it's always a working relationship and the commodification of nature), lots of humor, and an ensemble quality where even minor characters get a memorable line or look. Thankfully there's a Warner MOD dvd release now.

Enjoyable film. Especially liked the comical relationship between O'Brien and his taxi driver. Some guard dog he had.
