was terrible in this and I have usually liked everything I've seen him in but in this one, he is just morose and bad timing. Maybe he didn't want to do the picture and this was his way of showing it?

Seriously? I would try watching it again. Personally this is my favorite role of his (beside Captain John Pringle in A foreign affair). He was the perfect sarcastic, misanthrope type, which was a good contrast to Pearl's more upbeat, optimistic personality. I think he also brought a nice bit of subtle humor to the role too. Though "Mike" was definitely a flawed character, I thought he was quite sexy too. ;)
