Greta Garbo

Hi Everyone,
Alfred Hitchcock and David O. Selznick wanted Greta Garbo for the role. But she turned down the role. After that, Hitchcock wanted to cast Ingrid Bergman as Mrs. Paradine. Ingrid Bergman also turned down the role, because she wanted to avoid doing another movie for producer David O. Selznick.

So the role went to Alida Valli. Hitchcock also wanted Robert Newton for the role "William Marsh". But David O. Selznick refused. David O. Selznick would have agreed about casting Robert Newton if Greta Garbo played the role.

So the role went to Louis Jourdan. Louis Jourdan had a french accent, because he was from France. So the name was changed from "William Marsh" to "Andre Latour".
