Running Time of Paradine Case

I haven't posted here for a while. But the other night, I realized that I'd never checked Variety's review of "The Paradine Case." The Vareity reviewer, identified only as "Brog," saw the film on December 27, 1947. As his review indicates, the running time was 131 minutes, which appears in the credits at the head of the review. In the last paragraph of his review Brog writes, "'The Paradine Case' offers two hours and eleven minutes of high dramatics." It was this 131-minute version that was shown in Los Angeles, at the Radio City Music Hall, and in Miami in late 1947-early 1948 before Selznick withdrew the film and chopped it down to 123 minutes. As I've written elsewhere, the 114-minute version that is currently available everywhere, including TCM, was cut for a re-release when it went out paired with "The Spiral Staircase" on a double bill. Although I've written to various people about the 131-minute version the LIbrary of Congress has and about restoring this film to its original running time, I've received no reply from anyone.
