I don't know why, but I found it interesting that after Johnny & Kathleen are killed, the police treat their bodies very respectfully, covering them with a pile of raincoats.

Movie girl: I noticed this too! The head detective who had hounded Kathleen for information about Johnny's whereabouts looks chastened and very sad.
