The only film

i believe that this is the only film that (of course in the right hands) could make a fantastic remake. personally i find remakes irritating and extremely disrespectful. but this is a fantastic pertinent story that i think should be told again.

anybody see 'in bruges'? colin farrel as johnny mcqueen.

any thoughts?

reply

Maybe but the actor playing Johnny McQueen would have his work cut out getting near James Mason's brilliant performance. Mason himself thought it was the best performance of his career. Come to think of it the rest of the cast would be a hard act to follow.(Oh dear Sorry!!) Which actor would take on the lead--a daunting task--in a remake?

reply

Sidney Poitier did a black remake called The Lost Man, but it's reputed to be awful. I don't like remakes.

reply

it could work with Colin Farrel

When there's no more room in hell, The dead will walk the earth...

reply

I don't think so. If Farrel were in the remake it would be turned into an action movie and that's just what Odd Man Out isn't.

reply

Ugh. He's awful.

reply

If the film is so brilliant as you say, obviously it doesn't need a remake.
I love the film, I think it's a masterpiece of the classic cinema and any attempt of making a remake would be a piece of junk.

reply

Right you are, Javii.

reply

Amen to that.

reply

Yes, look at that recent remake of PSYCHO.Leave well enough alone.

"Do you indulge in any form of worship?"

reply

Well, I haven't seen the remake of Psycho nor care to. As for Odd Man Out, I can't imagine anyone other than Mason as Johnny McQueen. But, I am biased in that this is my all time favorite movie and Mr. Mason was, in my opinion, the finest actor of his generation - not one of the finest, the finest.

Think of his characters: Ivo Kern, Humbert Humbert, Stephen Deremid, Lord Rohan, Max Easton, Ulysses Diello, etc. Can you see anyone else in these roles? Me neither.

reply

If we are following the normal rules of remakes it would probably star Liam Neeson, beating up all the cops easily while barely even noticing the wound in his arm. At some point there would have to be big explosions too, of course.

Cell phones would probably ruin half the plot of the film too. Instead of running around in circles trying to find Johnny they'd just call him.

reply

NO FEKIN REMAKES!!!

Watta ya lookn here for?
