Was that.....

Was that Bing Crosby who played the executioner at the end? Was that also him in "My Favorite Blonde" standing in line for the bus? Both times Hope acknowledges him to the camera.

Yep, that was Bing.

Here's a little thumbnail description of the Bing Crosby cameos in Bob Hope films*:

(Warning - you might want to avoid reading this if you'd like to be surprised by Bing's appearances in these movies. ALSO - some of his appearances are PLOT SPOILERS, so just a warning.)

My Favorite Blonde (1942)
Bing's first guest appearance in a Bob Hope movie. He directs Bob to a Teamsters' picnic. One of Bob's best movies.

Princess and the Pirate (1944)
Bing drops in on this Bob Hope picture just in time to steal the girl, Virginia Mayo.

My Favorite Brunette (1947)
Bing appears at the end of this Bob Hope, Dorothy Lamour movie as the executioner who gets to gas Old Ski Nose. At the last minute Bing's hopes are crushed when the governor issues a reprieve. Bing's price tag for his 30-second appearance was a $25,000 donation by Bob to Gonzaga University.

Alias Jesse James (1959)
Bing shows up as a lawman in this Bob Hope, Rhonda Fleming movie and actually defends Bob

Cancel My Reservation (1972)
While in jail Bob Hope dreams he is being lynched. He notices Bing and asks for help. Bing replies, "Who do you think bought the rope?"
(this was Bing’s final acting appearance in a movie)

Sort-of cameos that Bing made in Bob's movies:
Private Navy of Sgt. O’Farrell (1968)(archive footage of Bing is shown)
They Got Me Covered (1943) (Bing's voice is heard in the music box)
Son of Paleface (1952)(Bing appears briefly in the opening scenes of this Bob Hope movie in a scene extracted from Bing's movie "Just for You."
Off Limits (1953) (Bing shows up as a face on the TV)

Bob and Bing made cameos together in the following movies:
Greatest Show On Earth (1952)
Scared Stiff (1953)

*I had some help researching some of this stuff from the Bing Crosby Internet Museum (http://community.mcckc.edu/crosby/bing.htm)

Also of course the cow in "the lemon drop kid" is called Crosby.

I think Crosby done more CAMEOS then anyone else, hes always cropping up in Hopes films in particular...guess it suited him, few minutes work meant a lot more time on the golf course!

I am NOT going to read your post!
because it has been a real treat so far when Crosby has popped up in the last 3 Hope films I watched.
So far this one (My Fav Brunette) was the funniest though.
