Is the 173-minute version still around?

The longest version shown of "Mourning Becomes Electra" is the 159-minute version which is shown occasionally on TCM, and has been released on DVD. Does anyone know if the original 173-minute premiere version is still available?

I would like to know that myself. Just watched the 159 min cut and it was AMAZING!

TCM is now showing the 173 minute version of this film.

True. 173 min on Sep 7 2011. It is a bit long to me, but with so many important characters and so complex, I don't know how on earth they could cut it shorter.

They could have removed those two lengthy scenes at the beginning of Act I and Act II where the neighbours wander into the house and lazily and unnecessarily gossip about the family.
