Wasn't she wonderful in this film? She handled her gently comedic role beautifully. Until now, I had only seen her in roles using her trademark deadpan delivery, such as in "The Harvey Girls", and thought it was nothing but annoying. But I found her to be very warm and appealing using a more natural approach in "Merton Of The Movies", and thought her to be a perfect leading lady for Red.

She was devastating beautiful and brilliant, but underused, in every movie except this one which was unfortunately her last. In every role she brought warmth and sincerity which is why I have always treasured her as a performer.
