WHY ISN'T THIS ON DVD?
I have fond memories of this film. Of course it's slight, and historically inaccurate - it's a British version of the standard Hollywood puff-piece bio-pic - but each time I watch I enjoy it more. Apart from the terrific music, with violin played by Yehudi Menuhin, the actors are all enjoyable and the period detail, while not lavish, is effective. A great nostalgia piece.
Oh, in case you couldn't tell, "The Magic Bow" is about the famous violinist Paganini. I think the title is part of the reason for this film's obscurity. If only they'd called it "The Loves Of Paganini" or "The Devil's Bow", so people would know what they're getting!
