lucille ball at her best

I think Lucy was a fabulous actress. I loved the scenes in this movie where she did her looks of terror. Eyes bulging, eyebrows high, lips in big circle. Seems much more appropriate than when she used this look in comedy sketches.

reply

yeah, she can really scream! good old horror-maid stuff, that.. she could do anything really well, I just wish she'd played a couple good villains.

reply

She did play a villain in THE MAGIC CARPET--a film she made in order to finish out her contract with Columbia and have the time to devote to I LOVE LUCY.

check out The Big Street

And she wore some beautiful clothes too. Especially the white gown with fur at the theatre

reply

I think she was better in this movie than in "I Love Lucy". She was overrated as a comedy actress, and underrated as a dramatic actress.

Jim Hutton: talented gorgeous hot hunk; adorable as ElleryQueen; SEXIEST ACTOR EVER

Nobody could do what Lucille Ball did comedy-wise on TV in her prime nearly as well. period.

Even larks and katydids are, supposed by some, to dream

reply

Sorry, but no "period". Many have been better, in tv comedy. I did like her in this movie, though.

reply

This was indeed superb...Just finished it and I was so pleased throughout!

I caught it on TCM and enjoyed it too.

I thought Lucy was very good. Sanders too.

reply

I watched it last night on TCM too, brockmeeks. I thought Lucille was wonderful, had great dramatic chops, in addition to tremendous chemistry with Sanders. She looked beautiful too.

reply

She was excellent in "Lured". I wish she had done more of this sort of role. I've never liked "I Love Lucy".

reply

She was great
