MAIN theme is by BEETHOVEN not Tiomkin

Anybody with just a little knowledge about music knows the charging theme that continues through the movie and especially near the end is an arrangement of the Main Theme from Beethoven's Symphony #7 and not by Tiomkin. I am surprised the credits do not indicate that.

My question is, why so freaking loud? Did they want to make sure Beethoven himself could hear it? I could barely hear BBG's little speech at the end over all the noise.

This happens in movies frequently. The music score of "The Right Stuff", for example, is dominated by Tchaikovsky and Holst, but all you see in the main titles is Bill Conti.
