Richard Widmark looks like the Joker in this one.

That mad smile and that hat!

Definitely!

More likely the inspiration for Frank Gorshin's Riddler.

Frank Gorshin was an impressionist and Widmark was one of his regular impressions.

Frank Gorshin is supposed to have done very good impressions of Burt Lancaster and Richard Burton. I've just looked at his page photo on IMDb. He does actually look like Richard Widmark on there. And I agree that The Riddler is very much like Widmark's Udo character in 'Kiss of Death.'

I agree, very similar to gorshin, and they look very similar too. If my memory serves me right they played brothers on the opposite side of the law in Warlock. Perfect casting.

Correct, Gorshin not getting billing.

I just watched this, and was thinking, "Man, Widmark would have been a perfect Joker."

I was thinking that Widmark's Udo would have made a good Batman tv show villain, but yes, Gorshin's Riddler was an exaggerated, comedic version of Udo, in a leotard. As much as I like John Astin, his Riddler was lifeless compared to Gorshin's.
