Some movies just make you happy.

This is one of those movies. I'm glad I was able to see it. Not sure how I missed it all of these years.

Yes, this was a good movie.

This movie is pure happiness.

I too have never seen this movie as well. Turned on TMC to get away from the news. Enjoyed it and was a nice change of pace.

great cast, joyful tale, excellent dialog, and it makes one think their best thoughts about how life could be... one of the best from the 40s and it is quite likely my folks saw this in the theater during their engagement. this is the 2d time i have seen it and hoping to repeat the pleasure in years ahead. ruggles is perfect. as is victor moore, as the irrepressible mckeever. i am glad the fans rate it as high as 7.2. i rank it a 9.0. wonderful and rare movies are not that common... we need to cherish such treasures. compared to the films of the 21st C, this is real cinema. a bit sappy at times but full of real people. joy to the world.

I too count it as a 9. I think as more people view it (on DVD)or Turner,
it will become a Christmas Classic.

I'm so agreeing with you. This movie makes me use the word "delightful". I can count the number of times in my life I've used that word. But this movie was absolutely delightful. I'm so glad I chose to watch it. I both laughed and cried. 10 stars from me.

My husband just said the same thing---'I can't believe I missed this for so long'. Definitely is a great, feel-good movie!

I just discovered it too and was surprised I hadn't seen it sooner. The characters are so likable and it's a nice story.

Watching it now, and it is a treasure!

One more that had not seen it until now here. I see all but one of the posts in this thread were made in December. TCM is running it today as part of their Christmas movies. These old movies are great.
