I Walk Alone - 1947

Movie girl - THough I have enjoyed many film noirs, this is one of my favorite. The cast is outstanding; headed by Burt LAncaster and Lizabeth Scott. Burt is wonderful as a wronged convict who returns after many years in jail to demand his
share of the loot. Nightclub owner played to perfection by Kirk Douglas is concerned about his friend exacting revenge. We see his whole malevolent set-up which is further complicated by Kirk's girlfriend Kristine Miller.

I think the music sets the tenor of the film. Frankie (Burt) is not a violent guy and he and Kirk's former girlfriend Lizabeth Scott fall in love early on. He begins to change from a bitter and angry man to one whose sensitivity is revealed.

Throughout the film I was hoping Frankie and Liz's character would get away from there with no future jail time for Frankie. Wendell Corey is great as Frankie's old friend who sympathizes with him but is afraid of Noll, (Kirk D.)

THe talented band played Heart and Soul and ISn't it Romantic? plus some other great songs and moves the viewer's sympathies for the dancers.
