watchable quasi-noir

I confess neither Rosalind Russell nor Melvyn Douglas are my all-time favorite actors. Maybe they just got into the wrong movies. But somehow here they have an offbeat chemistry that works and barely rescues the implausible plot. Miss Russell in particular projects a melancholy luminousness that's a refreshing change of pace for her.
