Hairstyles/Costumes Not very accurate

This film was not consistent in its accuracy of hairstyle and costumes for 1927. There is a lot of mixing 1947 styles with 1927 styles.

Yes that's mentioned in the trivia section for the film.

But there's another odd anachronism. The forward pass was legalized in 1906, a lot more than "fifteen years" before 1927.

I recently watched the movie and I am a football fan. I thought there is definately one or two forward passes in the film. Im sure there was at least one.

Whether it was illegal or not I cant recall but it did happen.

Little research into clothing and hair styles was common in period films made in the 40's & 50's. The great musical numbers in Good News make up for the films' inaccuracies. June Allyson is one of my favorites. She really fit the "girl next door" image.

The time period was only 20 years past. I'm sure many people knew exactly what things were like then, and many of the controlling people backstage were probably of perfect age to understand it (in their 40s or so). I'm absolutely positive what REAL typical '80s styles were, e.g. I don't need to research.

I grew up in the 1980's and there were a couple of people dressed like "Boy George" or "Mr .T"--But the rest of us could pass for the kids of today.
