Unfortunately a movie like this had to be made because of the anti-Semitism of the time. I heard that Darrell Zanuck the head of 20th Century Fox motion picture applied to be a member of a Los Angeles Country club and was denied because they thought he was Jewish even though he wasn't. Yes, America is a horrible, hypocritical country, isn't she? As we all know, hypocrisy and prejudice are endemic and exclusive to her - unlike, say, pristine Europe, where they had things like the Holocaust.
