I have this on dvd

To whoever wrote the blurb, i am here to tell you the story of the linking segments. Basically at the beginning of the movie we see Jiminy Cricket singing etc about Fun and Fancy Free. He comes across a vinyl marked a musical story sung by Dinah Shore, which he puts on. This is how the story of Bongo begins. At the end of the story as Jiminy Cricket puts the vinyl in the case he gets an invitation to a party. So off he goes to this party with Edgar Bergen, Luana Patten and a couple of dummies. When he gets there theres a small section of Edgar Bergen making people laugh and then he goes into "Would you like to hear a story Luana? Can you imagine a little red house?" bla di bla and so begins the second segment. And I would just like to defend the Bongo segment. Its a great segment. It just happens to be in a movie with a completely unrelated segment such as this. With some really bad linking involved.

My memory is that when I saw this film on it's first release, the giant left a Willy-the-Giant-shaped hole in the ground. We saw him tumbling from the sky, we heard the thump, we saw our chums Mickey, Donald and Goofy looking down into the hole...

When I saw it as an adult, I believe the picture fades on Willy's tumble...and that's that.

What about it? Was it deemed too violent to show the hole in the ground?

I haven't seen the DVD. I saw a relatively recent television airing in which the scene faded as Willy was falling. Then cut to the happy ending...

I do rememer the giant-shaped hole in the ground from when I saw it as a kid.

I don't remember the giant-shaped hole either. I watched this just yesterday and of course, same thing- no hole. But I don't think they would cut that. I watched about 25 Disney animated movies in the past week and a half and there are a ton of things they could have cut out. They don't really cut for violence, just suggestions of it, and even that is mainly verbal only.
